Suspect Fatally Shot by Officers Outside Cleveland Staples

A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of a Staples store on Cleveland’s West 117th Street.

The shooting took place around 4:30 p.m. and involved two officers affiliated with the Medina County Sheriff’s Office. Both officers were working as part of a statewide task force under the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, a group responsible for seizing over $92 million in illegal drugs across the state last year, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

Details surrounding the circumstances that led to the shooting remain limited. Authorities have not disclosed what the suspect was wanted for. However, officials stated that the man allegedly pulled a knife during the encounter, prompting the officers to open fire.
