Three Suspects Arrested in Connection with Bank Robbery

According to a Facebook post by the North Canton Police Department on August 24th, 2024, three bank robbery suspects have been apprehended in Pennsylvania by FBI and detectives on August 21st 2024. The three are suspected of robbing a Citizens Bank back on July 18th, 2024. 

The breakthrough in the case came after a separate bank robbery was reported on August 21st in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. Surveillance footage from this incident led authorities to the suspects. The second robbery, occurring about 90 minutes from North Canton, involved approximately $80,000 being stolen.

At this stage, there has been no information on what evidence the authorities have on this case that led police to apprehend the three individuals in accordance with the robbery on July 18th. However, authorities have revealed that one of the suspects, wearing a dark medical mask and sweatshirt, was seen fleeing the scene as a passenger in a stolen Honda Civic.

The arrested individuals are:

  • Matthew D. Smith (32)
  • Christopher Lucius (36)
  • Latoya Young (43)

The individuals all have Canton addresses and all three are being held in Pennsylvania on multiple charges and will be charged on a federal level for their involvement and other local cases. They face multiple charges, including robbery with the threat of immediate serious harm, conspiracy to commit robbery, and robbery from a financial institution. The suspects are each being held on a $1 million bond and the preliminary court hearing is set for September 11th 2024.
