The death of 18-year-old Christion Olson, who passed away following a graduation party on July 12, has been officially ruled a homicide by investigators. After months of uncertainty, Olson’s family is now left with the heartbreaking confirmation that his death was no accident.
Christion attended a party on Topaz Lane that evening, where he sustained injuries under circumstances that remain unclear. According to police, his friends were unsure of how he was hurt but drove him back home. Chris Olson, Christion’s father, recounted the harrowing moment when his son was returned early the next morning, showing signs of having been assaulted.
“When we saw him, it was clear he had been accosted. He stopped breathing not long after,” Chris Olson said.
Since that tragic morning, Christion’s family has been waiting for answers. On Saturday, they gathered with friends and community members to honor his memory with a walk from the Brunswick Hills Police Station to the spot on Topaz Lane where he was last seen alive. His mother, Rochelle Olson, expressed her disbelief over her son’s untimely death and the lack of information surrounding the case.
“I’m just baffled that a young man who was so full of life, who had so much potential, had his life taken, and no one is saying anything about it,” she said.
While the homicide ruling confirmed what the family had feared, Rochelle said it was still a devastating realization. “You kind of hope that it’s ruled something else because of what that means.”
The walk was followed by a candlelight vigil in Christion’s memory, as his family and friends continue to seek justice and raise awareness in the community.
