Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:13 p.m. near the intersection of East Market and South Arlington Streets, where they discovered a 78-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was promptly taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Initial investigations indicate that the incident began with a minor collision between two vehicles traveling eastbound on East Market Street. Reports suggest that the victim’s vehicle sideswiped the other car, causing slight damage.

Following the collision, the driver of the second vehicle, aged 39, allegedly fired several shots, one of which struck the elderly man. The shooter then fled the scene.

Minutes later, police received information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts, leading them to a residence on the 700 block of Ravenswood Avenue. Officers apprehended the 39-year-old without any further incident and transported him to the police station for questioning.

Subsequent investigations resulted in the suspect being booked into Summit County Jail on charges of felonious assault.
