Facing Injustice: Politically Fueled Bias May Lead to Lawsuit

Is Bobby George planning to sue, or is he protecting himself from hostility and bias within the Cleveland legal and political system?

We here at Cleveland Uncovered obtained a copy of a letter sent to Cleveland Law Director Mark Griffin instructing his office “to preserve documents, tangible things, and electronically stored information (ESI) that are potentially relevant to the anticipated lawsuit and that are in the prospective party’s possession, custody, or control.” The letter is signed by Leo M. Spellacy Jr. of Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan.

George’s attorneys are focused on records headed by Chief Prosecutor Aqueelah Jordan and others in her office, as well as officers from the Cleveland Division of Police involved in the case. Specifically a patrol officer, a sergeant, and two detectives who were involved with the investigation and were singled out for review. George’s lawyers make claims that these members of the police department were biased in their decision to charge Mr. George with nine felonies without questioning him.

The request not only preserves evidence in the event a lawsuit is filed against the city, but also will show the ongoing bias against and mistreatment of Mr. George simply because he is a major supporter of the republican party and a de facto enemy of the chief prosecutor who is an executive member of the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats.

In a letter addressed to democratic candidates dated Dec. 2, 2023 from several democratic groups, including Cleveland Stonewall Democrats and Cuyahoga Democratic Women’s Caucus warns candidates that actions speak louder than words and cautions them to be careful where they choose to spend their money. The document then goes into a multi-page tirade on the subject of the George family and their businesses.

That document alone stands as enough to cast doubt on the impartiality of the Chief Prosecutor’s office and her anti-George family agenda. This begs the question of whether there could be another reason Mr. George’s attorneys feel the need to preserve evidence in this hostile climate. Are they preparing for a lawsuit or is Mr. George protecting himself?
