Northeast Ohio weather advisory

An Air Quality Advisory has been issued for multiple counties in Northeast Ohio, for concerns about elevated levels of air pollution in the region. The following counties have elevated particulate matter and ground-level ozone:

  • Ashtabula
  • Cuyahoga
  • Geauga
  • Lake
  • Lorain
  • Medina
  • Portage
  • Summit

During this advisory period, children, the elderly, and those with preexisting respiratory conditions like asthma and bronchitis—are strongly advised to limit their time outdoors. Pollutants in the air can lead to various health problems, worsen existing conditions and can cause congestion, chest pain, coughing, or throat irritation.

It is advisable for residents to keep windows closed to prevent polluted air from infiltrating indoor spaces and to use air purifiers, For those who must go outside, wearing a mask is highly recommended to help reduce exposure to harmful pollutants and avoid strenuous outdoor activities to also help mitigate the impact of poor air quality.
