Uncovering the Bobby George Case

Welcome to our ongoing dissection of the Bobby George case, approaching it from all sides with a truthful lens.

A little history

Bobby George, a name synonymous with the Cleveland dining scene, has long been regarded as a popular and charismatic restaurateur. He has built a reputation as a discerning business investor and a fixture in Cleveland’s social circles. His ventures have been celebrated, and his presence has made him a well-known figure in the city. However, in recent weeks, his name has once again surfaced in headlines for reasons far removed from the world of fine dining and hospitality. On August 9th, a warrant was issued for his arrest, sparking intense public interest and media coverage. This legal action followed a series of allegations made by an ex-girlfriend, which painted him in a vastly different light than those closest to him know.

The timing of the allegations against George is notable. The incidents in question span from late 2023 to mid-2024, with the accusations surfacing in August 2024. This timeline raises questions about the delay in reporting and the possibility of alternative motivations. For instance, the fact that the ex-girlfriend did not immediately report the incidents to authorities might suggest a lack of urgency or credibility in the claims.

Allegations

According to the publicly available warrant, it is alleged that on November 14, 2023, Bobby George reportedly restrained the accuser by pinning her to the ground and putting his hands around her neck. The document further describes the alleged incident as involving repeated slamming of the ex-girlfriend’s head into a table. Her report indicates that she was subsequently taken to a hospital, though she couldn’t recall which one, which raises serious questions about the veracity, details and the urgency of her medical care.

The allegations did not stop there. The ex-girlfriend recounted a second incident, said to have occurred between June 8, 2024, and June 10, 2024. In this instance, she alleges that Bobby George attempted to suffocate her by forcefully shoving a towel down her throat.

Following this alleged episode, the ex-girlfriend’s mother reportedly visited the Strongsville police department on July 30 to report the domestic violence. She was advised by Strongsville police to file the report in Cleveland. Interestingly, there’s no record of her having done so, which seems peculiar given the gravity of the situation, and oddly enough, people close to the situation remember seeing Bobby and the victim out on the town at this time, together and apparently quite happy.

Over a week after the ex-girlfriend’s mothers attempted report, the ex-girlfriend filed her own police report, although she mentioned that she couldn’t remember the exact dates of the incidents, only the events themselves.

Despite these serious allegations, George has approached the situation with dignity and resolve. His attempts to turn himself in after the warrant was issued were met with bureaucratic hurdles, yet he was able to surrender to the police on August 13, 2024. His attorney, Kevin Spellacy, has emphasized that George was deeply shocked by the accusations, highlighting his immediate and cooperative response to the legal proceedings.

During the bail hearing, the judge independently decided to increase the bail amount from the prosecutor’s initial $100,000 request to $200,000, citing concerns over the probable cause presented. Judge Shiela Turner McCall was quoted as saying, “I’m not doing a $100,000 bond. That probable cause is horrible.” Bobby promptly posted the 20% cash surety on the bail and was released.

Questions; Sans Answers

On August 19, 2024, George’s legal team sent a letter to Cleveland Law Director Mark Griffin, requesting the preservation of all relevant documents and evidence. They argued that this would not only safeguard evidence in case of a lawsuit but also highlight potential bias against George due to his political affiliations, specifically his support for President Trump, contrasting with the Democratic affiliations of the investigators and prosecution.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley recused himself from the case on August 23, 2024, citing the need to maintain public confidence in the justice system. Michael O’Malley’s decision to recuse himself and the appointment of Jane Hanlin as Special Prosecutor reflects a commitment to a fair and unbiased investigation. This move is intended to mitigate any concerns about the integrity of the legal process and assure the public that the case is being handled with objectivity.

Jane Hanlin is currently reviewing the case as the Special Prosecutor. This step aims to address any lingering doubts about impartiality and ensure a fair examination of the allegations.

The social media response has been nothing but fervent both in support of, and against Bobby George. A large scale bot comment campaign has been deployed attempting to convict Bobby across most of social media in the peoples mind, with the same few accounts commenting how he is guilty or repeating the same 2-3 exaggerated allegations in any thread, video comment section or tweet involving the case. This development makes us ponder the question, who is fitting the overly expensive bill such a bot campaign costs?

On the other side of the social media war over the case, Bobby George’s most fervent supporters are releasing video after video dissecting the ins and outs of the case, and exclaiming that he is a “handsome, young, wealthy individual who fell afoul of the worst types of people.”

As this complex and polarizing situation unfolds, many continue to stand by Bobby George, confident that the allegations will be carefully examined and that justice will prevail. Despite the challenges, George remains a figure of resilience and integrity, committed to clearing his name and continuing his contributions to the Cleveland community.
