Swissport to Lay Off Over 200 Workers at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

Swissport, a global provider of ground and cargo handling services, will be laying off more than 200 employees at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport later this year.

According to a notice sent to the State of Ohio, the job cuts are the result of the company losing its ground handling contracts with Frontier Airlines, Air Canada, and Spirit Airlines. As a result, nearly all of Swissport’s ground operations at the airport will come to an end.

The layoffs will affect 213 workers, whose final day of employment is set for November 4. Swissport has been providing ground services at Cleveland Hopkins since 1987, but the loss of these contracts will mark a significant reduction in its presence at the airport.
