The Ravenna community is coming together to support the family of Isaiah Monville, a 10-year-old boy who tragically passed away over the weekend. Isaiah, who wore the number 13 as a player for the Ravenna Ravens Youth Football League, is being remembered in various heartfelt ways, including the planned retirement of his jersey number.

Isaiah was a fifth grader at Brown Middle School, and his family and friends say his impact on those around him was immeasurable. The number 13 has now become a symbol of tribute, appearing on social media, car windows, helmet stickers, and even in tattoos worn by his mother, Connie Horner.

“Everywhere I look, it’s 13 strong,” said family friend Tiffany Thompson-Jones, describing how the community has embraced Isaiah’s memory.

Horner shared touching stories of her son’s kindness, saying Isaiah was always willing to help others. “He had a heart of gold,” she said. “There was a time when he saw a lady fall, and he immediately threw his bike aside to help her.”

Isaiah had been managing medical issues, but on Friday, he experienced sudden complications. Doctors at Akron Children’s Hospital discovered a tear in his bowel, and he passed away the following day.

His passing has left the community heartbroken, but the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. “We are blown away by the love and kindness we’ve received,” Thompson-Jones said.

To further honor Isaiah, proceeds from concessions at upcoming youth football games behind Brown Middle School on Saturday, Sept. 14, will be donated to his family. The event is one of many efforts to keep Isaiah’s memory alive and support those he left behind.
