A Cleveland fire battalion chief was hospitalized Saturday evening after his vehicle was rear-ended while en route to a fire emergency.
According to Cleveland Fire Department spokesperson Lt. Mike Norman, the incident occurred just before 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of East 105th Street and St. Clair Avenue. The battalion chief, responding to a fire alarm, was struck from behind by another vehicle.
The chief was transported to the hospital by EMS in stable condition, reportedly suffering from a back injury. Due to the damage sustained in the crash, the battalion chief’s SUV was taken out of service.
