Former Booster Club Member Indicted for Allegedly Stealing Thousands from Hoover High School

A former officer of a local high school booster club has been indicted on multiple charges, accused of embezzling significant funds from the organization, according to court filings.

Documents from the Stark County Common Pleas Court reveal that 47-year-old Billie Jo Boyajian is facing felony charges of grand theft, forgery, and misuse of credit cards. The charges stem from allegations that she misappropriated money from the Hoover Hoops Booster Club, which supports the Hoover Boys Basketball program at North Canton City Schools.

According to the indictment, Boyajian is accused of stealing between $7,500 and $150,000 from the club over a period spanning from January 1, 2019, to April 15, 2024. She is also charged with using the club’s credit card as collateral for personal debt.

North Canton City Schools Superintendent Jeff Wendorth addressed the situation in a statement, noting that the district is aware of the allegations and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation by local law enforcement and the Stark County Prosecutor’s Office. He emphasized that booster clubs, while important to the school community, operate independently from the district.

Boyajian is scheduled to be arraigned on October 25.
