Investigation Underway in Shooting Death of 25-Year-Old Neiko Swesey in Akron

Authorities are investigating the tragic shooting death of 25-year-old Neiko Swesey, who was found fatally wounded in an apartment in Akron on Friday night. Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 1100 block of Keys Place shortly before 10:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Swesey with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed Swesey’s identity. Initial investigations revealed evidence of multiple gunshots in the vicinity, including bullet holes in two unoccupied vehicles and an apartment near the crime scene.

While no suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting, authorities did apprehend a 20-year-old woman at the scene. She faces charges for allegedly obstructing first responders and medical personnel during their emergency response efforts. However, police have stated that she is not considered a suspect in the shooting itself.
