In a troubling incident early Tuesday morning, Akron police apprehended a 64-year-old man following an alleged unprovoked attack on a 60-year-old man. The assault occurred around 8 a.m. at the Mayflower Manor Apartments, located on the 200 block of S. Main St.
According to law enforcement officials, the victim suffered multiple blows, being punched and kicked repeatedly. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he received treatment for his injuries, which were reported as non-life-threatening.
Following the assault, police conducted interviews with witnesses to piece together the events leading to the attack. Their investigation led them to the suspect, identified as Ladoris Perkins, who was located at his apartment. Authorities reported that Perkins was taken into custody without any resistance.
Perkins has been charged with felonious assault and is currently being held at the Summit County Jail as the case unfolds.
