The Akron Police Department is currently investigating a tragic incident that occurred on Thursday night, November 8, involving the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man in a parking lot.
Police received a call just before 8 p.m. regarding a one-car crash at the intersection of South Main Street and West Miller Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. Preliminary reports suggest that he had been shot shortly before the crash while sitting in a car in the parking lot of Tasty Carry Out, located on West Long Street.
Emergency responders quickly transported the victim to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m. The identity of the victim has not yet been released to the public as officials continue their investigation.
According to police, following the shooting, the unknown suspect or suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. While authorities have located the suspect’s vehicle abandoned a few blocks away, no suspects have been identified at this time. The investigation remains active, with the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office working alongside Akron police to gather further details.
