Desiree Long, a 33-year-old mother from Lorain who had been missing since October 9, has been located safely by U.S. Marshals. Authorities found her at an apartment building in Cleveland on Tuesday.
The Lorain Police Department confirmed the discovery in a statement, noting that there is no current evidence to suggest she was abducted. However, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain under investigation.
Long was reported missing on October 23 after she was last seen leaving a home near West 29th Street and Oberlin Avenue in Lorain and getting into a car. Police have not confirmed whether the driver was someone she knew or a rideshare service.
Her family, deeply concerned for her safety, had offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to her location.
“The Lorain Police Department extends its heartfelt gratitude to our law enforcement partners, the media, and the community,” said Captain Jacob Morris. “The collaborative effort highlights the power of working together to ensure public safety.”
While Long was found safe, she is now in custody at the Lorain County Jail on unrelated outstanding warrants. Investigators continue to review the circumstances of her disappearance. Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
