Browns Dismiss Offensive Coordinator Ken Dorsey and O-Line Coach Andy Dickerson Following Disappointing Season

The Cleveland Browns wasted no time making changes after concluding a challenging 3-14 season, announcing the dismissal of two key coaches on Sunday morning.

Offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and offensive line coach Andy Dickerson, both in their first year with the team, have been let go as part of the organization’s efforts to address performance issues.

Dorsey was hired in January 2024 to overhaul the Browns’ offense following their elimination in the Wild Card round of the previous playoffs. He succeeded Alex Van Pelt, who was removed from the role after a series of interviews led the Browns to bring in Dorsey.

Previously, Dorsey served in various coaching roles with the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills, including quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. His tenure with Buffalo ended in November when the team struggled to gain momentum early in the season.

Midway through this season, Dorsey was handed play-calling responsibilities by head coach Kevin Stefanski in an attempt to ignite the offense after a disappointing 1-6 start. Despite the adjustment, Cleveland’s offense continued to falter, finishing 27th in total yards per game (300.8) and ranking last in the league for total points scored (258) and points per game (15.2).

The offensive struggles were compounded by Deshaun Watson’s Achilles injury, which sidelined him for much of the season. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston delivered a few strong performances, but the team’s inconsistency remained a major issue.

The offensive line, led by Dickerson, also faced challenges. Cleveland’s linemen were plagued by pre-snap penalties and allowed the second-most sacks per game in the NFL (3.9). The run game, which ranked 28th in the league with an average of 94.6 yards per game, was another area of concern.

Dickerson joined the Browns in February after previously serving as the run game coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks. This marked his second stint with Cleveland, having worked with the team in 2009 and 2010 in various coaching capacities.

With these staffing changes, the Browns will now begin the search for a new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry are expected to remain in their positions, though additional moves could follow as the organization works to rebound in the 2025 season.
