U.S. Marshals Arrest Suspect in Cleveland Heights Grandmother’s Murder

A 23-year-old man has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in connection with the fatal shooting of a Cleveland Heights grandmother earlier this month.

Authorities believe Amin Walker was involved in the murder of 74-year-old Edith Moore, who was shot in the head in her home during the early hours of January 4. Moore tragically succumbed to her injuries. An 18-year-old present at the scene also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg but survived.

Walker and a 16-year-old boy were identified as suspects in the case. The 16-year-old was apprehended earlier, and Walker was taken into custody on Friday morning at a residence on East 77th Street in Cleveland.

“This violent fugitive posed a threat to our community, and our officers worked relentlessly over the past several days to arrest him and take him off the street,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. He also commended the Cleveland Heights Police Department for their efforts in identifying the suspects and aiding in the arrest.

According to police, Walker was on parole for a prior conviction involving the shooting of a priest. The details surrounding the parole and the earlier incident have not been disclosed.

Investigators continue to piece together the events leading to Moore’s murder, and additional updates on the case are expected.
