CLEVELAND — Firefighters responded to a deadly house fire Monday afternoon on Cleveland’s west side, where an elderly woman was discovered deceased inside the residence.
The blaze broke out around 1 p.m. at a home located in the 3400 block of West 98th Street in the West Boulevard neighborhood.
Upon arrival, the Cleveland Fire Department reported heavy flames engulfing all three floors of the house. Fire officials said hoarding conditions inside the residence made extinguishing the fire particularly challenging.
Tragically, firefighters located the body of an elderly female occupant during their search.
Authorities have not released the woman’s identity, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
