Berea Police Sergeant Ean Esposito Dies Following Sudden Medical Emergency

The Berea Police Department is mourning the loss of Sergeant Ean Esposito, who passed away early Saturday morning after experiencing an unexpected medical emergency.

In a statement shared over the weekend, the department described the news as “profoundly saddening,” honoring Sgt. Esposito’s years of dedicated service both to the community and the nation. A veteran of the United States Army, Esposito joined the Berea Police Department in 2011 and served in a variety of critical roles throughout his tenure.

Sgt. Esposito was known not only for his tactical expertise, but also for his commitment to community safety and preparedness. He served as a field training officer, community engagement officer, school resource officer, defensive tactics instructor, and department range officer. He was also a member of the Southwest Enforcement Bureau and played a leading role in updating the department’s emergency operation plan.

“Ean took great pride in ensuring both the department and the Berea community were prepared for emergencies,” the department said in a statement. “Sgt. Esposito will be missed by all who knew him and were touched by his engaging spirit.”

The department is asking the public to keep Esposito’s family, friends, and fellow officers in their thoughts and prayers. At the family’s request, any donations in his honor should be directed to the West Tactical Officer Foundation, which will ensure support reaches the family directly.
