Cleveland police are investigating a fatal shooting that left one teenager dead and another injured Thursday evening on the city’s east side.
According to Cleveland Police Public Information Officer Wilfredo Diaz, officers from the Third District responded just before 7 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the 2500 block of East 49th Street.

When officers arrived, they found two teenage boys, approximately 15 and 16 years old, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a nearby hospital by Cleveland EMS. The 16-year-old later died from his injuries.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, and the condition of the surviving teen has not been made public.
Detectives with the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been made as of Friday morning.
