A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges in connection with a shooting that erupted in Cleveland’s Clark-Fulton neighborhood on Easter Sunday, rattling residents who woke to the sound of gunfire.
Josue Montanez, 23, is set to be arraigned Thursday morning in Cuyahoga County Court after being charged with felonious assault and criminal damaging, according to court records. The charges stem from an early-morning incident near West 43rd Street and Hyde Avenue, where dozens of shots were fired.

Neighbors said the chaos unfolded just after sunrise. Eugene Pate, who lives near the scene, said he counted roughly 30 gunshots that morning — one of which pierced his home and landed only feet from where he slept.
“It came close to hitting my head,” Pate told 19 News. “Yeah, it’s surreal.”
Police arrived to find shattered car windows and dozens of evidence markers scattered across the street. Witnesses described the incident as shocking, with one resident lamenting, “Today is Easter Sunday. What is wrong with people?”
Pate and other neighbors have submitted receipts for property damage caused by the bullets, hoping to be reimbursed. For Pate, the financial impact is personal.
“I really need that $500,” he said. “I know it seems like a small amount, and the damages might seem minor, but that took away grocery money. I’m struggling because I take care of a sick mother.”
Montanez remains in custody ahead of his Thursday arraignment, where prosecutors are expected to outline additional details about the case. The investigation into the Easter morning shooting is ongoing.
