A 38-year-old Cleveland woman is recovering at MetroHealth Medical Center after being set on fire during an early-morning altercation Thursday in the city’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood.

According to Cleveland Police, officers from the Second District responded just before 12:30 a.m. to reports of an assault in the 1300 block of West 87th Street, near the 7800 block of Detroit Avenue. When they arrived, they found the woman suffering from severe burns on multiple parts of her body.
Investigators say the incident began with a dispute between the victim and a neighbor over their properties. Police believe the neighbor then called approximately three juveniles to the residence to confront her. During the assault, one of the juveniles allegedly set the woman on fire.
The woman’s identity has not been released. No arrests have been made, but police say the case is being investigated as aggravated burglary, aggravated arson, and felonious assault.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Cleveland Police as the investigation continues.
