Garfield Heights Shooting Leaves One Dead, Two Injured; Suspect in Custody

A man has died and two others were hospitalized following a shooting in Garfield Heights late Friday night, police report. Authorities arrested one suspect in connection with the incident early Saturday morning.

Garfield Heights Police were dispatched around 10:15 p.m. to the 13100 block of Orme Road after receiving reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 41-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Two additional victims were also located at the scene and rushed to nearby hospitals. The woman later succumbed to her injuries, while the other two individuals remain hospitalized for treatment.

According to WOIO, officers maintained a strong presence at the scene, including multiple officers and emergency responders, as the investigation unfolded into the night. A suspect was taken into custody at approximately 7:30 a.m. Saturday, with charges yet to be finalized pending the ongoing investigation.

This incident marks Garfield Heights’ second fatal shooting in recent months. In October 2024, authorities uncovered a deadly shooting prompting a joint investigation by the Garfield Heights Police and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. While those incidents differ in motive and scope, together they underscore rising community concerns over public safety.

As of now, no additional details have been released about the relationships between the suspect and victims or possible circumstances leading up to the shooting. The case remains active, and police have pledged updates as more information becomes available.
