CLEVELAND — A Sunday evening shooting in the Flats left five people injured, including one man investigators believe may have been involved in the gunfire, according to Cleveland police.
The incident unfolded just after 6:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of West 10th Street. Police said a fight that began inside a bar spilled outside, escalating into shots being fired. Cleveland firefighters, who were already nearby responding to an overcrowding call at the same bar, reported hearing the gunfire.

Cleveland EMS Commander Ellen Kazimer confirmed that three of the victims — a 28-year-old woman, a 45-year-old man, and a 21-year-old man — were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition. A 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were listed in stable condition.
Police said first responders treated all five victims at the scene before transporting them to the hospital. Officers are still working to determine the number of shooters involved.
Eyewitnesses described chaos as gunfire erupted in the crowded entertainment district. “We were just hanging out, and suddenly, pow pow pow — they just started shooting,” one witness told reporters. Another bystander, Mike Hamme, said he ducked for cover as bullets struck his van while he was stopped in traffic. “That bullet was about four feet from me,” he said.
Mayor Justin Bibb condemned the violence in a statement Sunday night. “Gun violence has no place in our city — period,” Bibb said. “I’ve already directed my team to immediately shut down and board up the bar involved. We will hold everyone accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
Detectives recovered evidence at the scene and continue to review surveillance footage. Police have not confirmed any arrests, and the investigation remains active.
